چکیده

properties at high blood concentrations. MacLeod and Lamberts3 have shown the dopamine agonist effects of high concentrations of haloperidol and pimozide on prolactin release. Seeman4 has shown that very high concentrations of some antipsychotic drugs may enhance presynaptic release of neurotransmitters, including dopamine. Altematively, at high concentrations of antipsychotic drugs maximal dopaminergic blockade may occur. Additional dosage increments would not produce further dopamine blockade, but other pharmacological effects, such as anticholinergic activity, might continue to increase and might be responsible for the presentations described. Toxic psychoses have been associated with high doses of anticholinergic drugs,5 usually combined with moderate doses of antipsychotic drugs. The episodes reported in these studies also appear to have been characterised by excitement and aggression, as in our cases.

Distillery Effluent Treatment Using Membrane Bioreactor Technology Utilising Pseudomonas Fluorescens

Distilleries produce vast amounts of contaminated effluents which if disposed to the water bodies will pose environmental problems hence need to treat this effluent. A membrane bioreactor with Pseudomonas fluorescens as a decolorizing micro-organism was employed for treatment of distillery effluent over 10 days. The effluent pH changed from being acidic (4.2-5.0) to neutral (7.3-8.0). The efflu...

Bacteremia or pseudobacteremia? Review of pseudomonas fluorescens infections.

INTRODUCTION P. fluorescens is an aerobic, Gram-negative bacillus related to Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Like other species of Pseudomonas, the organism is widespread in nature and is found in water, moist soil, and vegetation. Due to its low virulence, P. fluorescens is an infrequent cause of infections except for catheter-related bloodstream infections in cancer patients. From August 1, 2003 to M...

Multistate outbreak of Pseudomonas fluorescens bloodstream infection after exposure to contaminated heparinized saline flush prepared by a compounding pharmacy.

BACKGROUND Pharmaceutical compounding, the manipulation of ingredients to create a customized medication, is a widespread practice. In January 2005, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was notified of 4 cases of Pseudomonas fluorescens bacteremia that were traced to contaminated heparinized saline intravenous flush syringes prepared as a compounded medical product. PATIENTS AND MET...

Effect of Cell-free Culture Filtrates of Bio-control Agents on the Spore Germination and Infection by Phytophthora Infestans Causing Late Blight of Potato

Potato ranks fourth as the most important food crop in the world. The crop is known to suffer from many diseases among which late blight is more devastating. Therefore, culture filtrates of bio-control agents, (Trichoderma virens, Trichoderma viride, Paecilomyces lilacinus and Pseudomonas fluorescens) were tested for their effectiveness on the spore germination and infection in-vitro, as fungic...

Draft Genome Sequence of a Chromium-Reducing Strain, Pseudomonas fluorescens S613, Isolated from a Chromium-Contaminated Aquifer in Los Alamos, New Mexico

In this report, a chromium-reducing bacterium, Pseudomonas fluorescens strain S613, was isolated from a Cr(VI)-contaminated aquifer at Los Alamos, NM, and sequenced. The size of the draft genome sequence is approximately 6.7 Mb.
